La personale dell'artista è dedicata alla sua città di origine, Lecce, l'antica Lupiae, e propone un itinerario di sculture a terra, a parete e in sospensione, in diversi materiali, offrendo un’idea poetica della ricerca della scultrice attraverso le sue opere più recenti.
Nata a Lecce nel 1960, dopo la laurea nel 1987 decide di vivere a Milano, ritornando spesso nel suo luogo di origine. Dal 1973 al 1980 inizia a creare le sue prime sculture mentre coltiva la sua passione per l'arte e la poesia. Da fine anni Ottanta, a Milano, la sua ricerca si avvale della collaborazione e dell'amicizia con il fotografo Giovanni Ricci (archivio A. Guidetti G. Ricci Milano), che documenta sistematicamente, per trent'anni, il suo lavoro. Ha stretti rapporti con poeti e artisti, tra i quali: Dario Bellezza, Carmelo Bene, Bruno Brancher, Carmen Gregotti, Luciano Fabro, Hidetoshi Nagasawa, e partecipa ad una serie di esposizioni internazionali, invitata da Pierre Restany e Achille Bonito Oliva.

The artist’s solo exhibition is dedicated to her home town Lecce (the ancient Lupiae) and it offers a tour among floor sculptures, wall sculptures and hanging sculptures, made of different materials, which convey the poetic idea of the sculptress’s quest through her latest works.
Luisa Elia was born in Lecce in 1960. In 1987, following her bachelor’s degree, she moves to Milan, often going back to her home town. From 1973 on, the artist starts working on her first sculptures while developing an interest for art and poetry. In the late 80s, she starts a collaboration with the photographer Giovanni Ricci in Milan (archivio A. Guidetti G. Ricci Milano), who has documented her work for 30 years. She has close connections with artists and poets such as Dario Bellezza, Carmelo Bene, Bruno Brancher, Carmen Gregotti, Luciano Fabro, Hidetoshi Nagasawa, and she attends several international exhibitions, invited by Pierre Restany and Achille Bonito Oliva.
Days and opening hours: the museum is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday 10.00 – 21.00.
